Grip Across the Tread
Developed with Greg Minnaar, the Maxxis Assegai puts dependable grip ahead of outright rolling speed. Closely spaced transition knobs help maintain traction as the bike leans, while pronounced shoulder knobs keep cornering predictable on loose and rough trails. It's particularly popular up front for aggressive trail, enduro and downhill riding, but can also be used on the rear.
Choose Your Setup
The Assegai comes in several configurations to suit different riding styles and terrain. Rubber options include Dual, 3C MaxxTerra, the updated MaxxTerra and the softer 3C MaxxGrip, with different balances of traction, rolling speed and durability. EXO and EXO+ provide protection for trail riding, while DoubleDown and Downhill casings add support and impact resistance for more demanding
Wide Trail (WT) Labeling
Maxxis has discontinued the WT label on its 2.40" and 2.50" MTB tires. All current tires in these widths retain the same Wide Trail construction, optimized for 30–35mm internal rim widths. Only the labeling has changed, not the tires themselves.
