Built to Blur the Line
The RMU NIGHTTRAIN is a small-batch aluminum frameset built for riders who want the line between enduro and freeride to stay deliberately blurred. Designed in partnership with Dave Weagle around his Orion Dynamics suspension platform, it combines 170mm of rear travel with a mid-pivot layout, a 6-bar flex-stay suspension system and RMU’s distinctive dual-idler drivetrain.
The idea behind the NIGHTTRAIN is straightforward: create a bike that can handle rough terrain, big jumps and aggressive bike-park laps without giving up efficiency when the trail points uphill. Orion is tuned to remain stable under power while maintaining traction through rough sections, with support through the middle of the travel and compliance when impacts get bigger.
The mid-pivot layout builds on that character. Its axle path helps the bike carry momentum through rough terrain, while the shorter static chainstays preserve the playful feel RMU wanted from the platform. As the suspension moves into its travel, the rear centre grows to add stability and support without becoming excessively long deeper in the stroke.
A dual-idler, two-chain drivetrain separates the crankset from the rear shifting system, reducing pedal feedback and opening up far more drivetrain flexibility than a conventional layout. Combined with size-specific geometry and suspension kinematics for every frame size, the NIGHTTRAIN is a highly considered alloy platform designed to be pushed hard, pumped through terrain and played with rather than simply pointed downhill.
Key Features
- Size-Specific Geometry and Kinematics
Geometry and suspension kinematics are tuned across S1 to S4, giving each frame size a more tailored ride feel. - 170mm of Pure Confidence
Built to handle rock gardens, huck-to-flats and steep technical terrain while keeping enough mid-stroke support for pumping and popping off features. - Precision Geometry
A slack head angle adds confidence on steep terrain, while the steep seat angle keeps the rider centered and efficient on climbs and transfers. - 6066-T6 Aluminum Construction
The full alloy chassis uses 6066-T6 aluminum with an emphasis on strength, durability and controlled weight. - DW Dual Idler System
By separating the crankset from the rear shifting system, the dual-idler layout opens up broad compatibility with different rear drivetrain configurations.
